Vintage Style Bride/Groom Session | Bend, Oregon Wedding Photographer

This was a thrilling fun shoot. I had found this amazing remote location in Central Oregon, and knew that I just had to shoot there! My plan for this shoot was to utilize the photos for our new office location. We have a fun vintage theme going on right now and I felt these photos would work fantastic with our vision. My hope was to also show brides that it’s fun to think outside the box in terms of photography for their wedding day!

Some of the best shots on a wedding day are those when you are running through a field, when you are placed in amazing unique environments and allowing us to capture the beautiful “you” and what ever unique style you have, in the raw surroundings of your day with out having fear of a dirt drop on the dress… or having to be completely perfect… but rather to allow yourself to be free and have fun in what ever setting there is. These moments, these raw surrounds make for the best art!

With that being said, I thought I would share a few from the day!

Please feel free to come visit us at our new location at 1001 NW West Wall St. We are open by appointment only. So feel free to give us a ring or send us a note if you would like to come by!

Cheers,
~Kimberly Kay

One fabulous couple – Engagement | Bend, Oregon Wedding Photographer

I had a blast today working with this great couple who braved the Santiam Pass during snow season to come have their engagement photos taken. I have the honor of capturing their wedding at the Sunriver Resorts Great Hall in March and I couldn’t be more thrilled.

I have to admit, I adore shooting in the winter months when we have breath taking weather as we did today. Who can resist golden sun flare lighting mixed with snow and a beautiful rustic park as a back drop!

What an adorable couple… they where both so down to earth and just a pure joy to get to know and work with today.

Here is a little sneak peak:

Exciting updates!

Kimberly Kay Photography has a really exciting year ahead! With wonderful weddings on the books that will lead us to beautiful love stories all other the northwest as well as a NEW office/gallery opening. We couldn’t be more excited about all the upcoming details to share very soon. We will also be collaborating with another amazing local wedding vendor with some new awesome photography packages. Also, keep a look out for our brand new website to launch with in the next week.

We had such a special 2009. We are so thrilled for all the exciting weddings this year.

With that being said …. I will also be restructuring the business slightly. With the primary focus being weddings. We will no longer be photographing senior portraits as well as maternity sessions. We will officially be retiring that portion of our portfolio to the website shortly. We will still be excepting family portraiture.

If you are in need of senior portraits or maternity sessions I would love to refer you to Kelly Goff of KG Photography check out her website http://www.kgoff.com/

Stay tuned for more details to come!

Cheers,
~Kimberly Kay

Display at Umpqua Bank in Northwest Crossing Bend | Bend, Oregon Wedding and Landscape Photographer

Umpqua Bank has a wonderful support program of featuring “local businesses and artists” by displaying featured art or products each month or quarter. The branch manager for Northwest Crossing Umpqua bank had asked me to display our work to kick off the 2010 year as the featured “local spot light business”. I believe our work will be displayed for up to 3 months. We will be switching out canvases from time to time. Chris’s landscapes are for sale. Check out our display at Northwest Crossing Umpqua Bank in Bend, Oregon.

Panoramic Landscape Photography of Central Oregon | Chris Barth Landscape Photography Bend Oregon

You may of gathered by now, that Chris really enjoys landscape photography. He’s got a great gift with capturing these amazing Central Oregon Landscapes! After all he’s been doing it for 25 years now. Recently he was hired to travel to Eugene to shoot an early evening landscape shot from Mt. Tom in the Colburg Foothills of the Willamette Valley near Eugene. This 3 foot by 6 foot gallery canvas made for a beautiful wall piece for our clients.

When we are not busy shooting weddings, you can almost guarantee Chris is off to climb some mountain top, or seeking out another adventure that has anything to do with beautiful and unique macro photography and landscapes.

His work will be displayed for sale in the Umpqua Bank in Northwest Crossing for 3 months starting next week. Over the past year he has had many requests for landscape photography. If you are interested in possible pieces he’s shot in the past… or you have a special request for landscape photography of your favorite spectacular locations, contact Chris directly @ obscuraorama@gmail.com or (206) 898-3367

One lovely family reunion photo shoot Eagle Crest Resort | Bend, Oregon Portrait Photographer

I adore taking photos in the snow… especially when small children are involved. It’s so adorable to watch them play… and even more so, to watch the grandparents run around just like they are small children too.
This was a lovely family reunion trip that gathered at Eagle Crest Resort for the holiday. Most of the family traveled all the way from Chicago. But there where a few people from Bend too. It’s always great to see families unite for the holidays.

I set up the camera for their 3 year old to take a photo of her mommy and daddy… and this was all her. This awesome couple just opened up a new restaurant on the west side of Bend called Brother John’s go check it out if you haven’t already… it’s awesome!9690The little photographer KIM_9570Lots of snow balls flying and snow angel making.Untitled-1CEB_0647

Barbara Foster - Thank you both soooooo much for photos. If the few I am seeing are anything like the rest, what a success. You helped to make this a truly memorable Christmas for our families. This was actually the first Christmas we spent together since the birth of all the babies. Thanks again, Barbara Foster

Barbara Foster - Thank you thank you, got the disk today. The photos are wonderful. Printed some off to take to our supper gathering tonight. Thanks again. Barbara Foster

Janet - Your pictures are so gorgeous and creative!!

Bubble Gum Wall Seattle WA | Seattle Wedding Photographer

Have you ever seen anything as silly as this? Well…. I know Chris and I look silly sure… but CHECK OUT THAT WALL! I had discovered this alley years ago during a trip to Seattle to shoot a wedding. And ever since then, each time we go to Seattle I beg Chris to take me back to the gum wall just to see the progression. Progression indeed. It’s amazing to see the creativity of the gum wall, it’s an art form! Pretty gross and cool… I can say I have never seen anything quite like it.
KIM_0497KIM_0542KIM_0518We all had a lot of fun being silly at the gum wall!484

fletcher Jackson - It looks like that wall has grown since the last time I was there. but still looks just as nasty. Don't touch! haha

Adam Cavanagh - Wow I never knew there was one in Seattle. We saw a wall like this in Verona, Italy which was also very cool.

South, Middle and Broken Top Central Oregon | Bend, Oregon Photographer

Chris hiked Tumalo mountain on Christmas eve at 4am and captured this beautiful sunrise image. Just thought I would share some of Chris’s lovely landscape work. Chris has been approached by Umpqua Bank in Northwest Crossing to display a gallery of photography for the next 3 months starting the first week of January. We are trying to decide which images. We know that we will be displaying some wedding work along with some beautiful Central Oregon landscapes…and perhaps this may be one of them. Tumalo_Panorama3Tumalo_Panorama2
Tumalo_Panorama1It’s amazing what a difference a few minutes can make as the lighting changes. Leave us your feedback… which one should we display in Umpqua Bank?

Alice Myers - Both are beautiful photos, but I prefer the first for display in a bank. :-) It feels more like a sunrise than a sunset which seems more appropriate for a business environment. A fresh day filled with a million and one opportunities.

Dorian Honey - Absolutely beautiful! Picture #1 just because I love both the sky colouring and mixture of light and dark (shadow) on the mountains. Thanks for sharing.

Kimberly Taylor - Oh my gosh they are all amazing. I can't even choose! Kim, you and Chris could not go wrong with any of these.

My Christmas Present! | Bend, Oregon Portrait Photographer

All I wanted for Christmas was my “own” family photo shoot. I have never had any photos taken of myself with my own kids, or better yet our own family together. I begged and begged my children to please just once allow me to take photos of them… and family photos together.

So many people say to me on shoots… “Boy you must have amazing family photos!”…and I always chuckle to myself… thinking YEAH RIGHT! Ha… my kids, no way… they have been around a camera enough to know they do NOT want to take the time to do that. It’s like chasing them around for hours hoping to snap a few okay shots.

But this year we managed to do just that. I had my own dream come true… Smith Rock… (my favorite place in Central Oregon) golden lighting and all my family that I cherish dearly.

I could not be happier this holiday season! I will cherish these images.

Everyone asks our opinions on what to wear for photos… I will plug THE GAP always! Practically everything we are wearing is from the Gap. It is always easy to match colors and styles with everyone no matter what the season is. We choose colors that will match nice with our decor in the house… as we like to display things large on our walls.
9199My three amazing children Bret, Awbrey and Johnny9235My daughter Awbrey striking her pose!9326The family…9227And at last, a photo of myself with all my children… I will cherish it even if… I had to pull teeth to get even the little fake smiles on their faces! LOL I love it anyway. 9311
